APDW 2026 marks a proud milestone for the Philippines. For the first time in APDW history, three Philippine medical societies have united to co-host this prestigious congress — bringing together gastroenterology, hepatology, and digestive endoscopy under one roof, and one shared mission. This unprecedented collaboration reflects not only the strength and maturity of our local medical community, but our collective ambition to lead digestive medicine across the Asia-Pacific. The Philippines last hosted APDW in 2009. Much has changed since then — in our science, our technology, and our region. The burden of digestive disease continues to grow across Asia-Pacific, and the urgency for advances in clinical practice, translational research, and multidisciplinary care has never been greater. APDW 2026 Manila answers that call. Our scientific programme — themed *"Advancing Practice in Digestive Wellness in Asia-Pacific"* — brings together world-class faculty across five days of plenary lectures, focused symposia, hands-on endoscopy workshops, live demonstrations, and a competitive abstract programme. Whether you are an established clinician, an emerging researcher, a trainee, or an industry partner, there is a place for you here. And of course, there is Manila itself. APDW 2026 Manila invites submissions of original research for oral free paper, poster, and endoscopic video case presentations. The congress covers gastroenterology, hepatology, digestive endoscopy, and digestive surgery. All accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement to the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH), providing your research with international visibility across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Submission of an abstract constitutes the author's consent for publication of the abstract in the congress programme and the JGH supplement. Please ensure the correctness of your abstract as it will be published as submitted. Original research selected for oral presentation in a scientific session. 10-minute presentation followed by 5-minute Q&A. The top-scoring abstracts submitted for free paper will qualify for oral presentation. All others will be considered for poster presentation. Original research displayed in the dedicated Poster Area throughout the congress. Official poster-viewing hours are held during coffee breaks each day. Selected posters may qualify for the APDWF Posters of Distinction Award. Video submissions showcasing endoscopic techniques or clinical challenges. Selected videos will be given 3 minutes to present their video followed by a 2-minute panel discussion at the Asia Cup of Endoscopy Session. APDW 2026 Manila welcomes video submissions showcasing endoscopic techniques or clinical challenges of educational value to the Asia-Pacific GI community. All submitted abstracts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Author identities are concealed from reviewers, and reviewer identities are concealed from authors. Abstracts are assessed on scientific merit, research methodology, originality, state of completion, and clinical or scientific importance. All accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement to the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH), providing your research with international visibility beyond the congress. Abstracts must be written in **English** only. 3. The abstract body must not exceed **250 words**, excluding the title and author details. 4. Abstracts must follow the structured format: **Background/Objective / Methods / Results / Conclusion**. 5. **Tables and figures are not permitted** within the abstract body. 6. Abstracts must contain **original material** that has not been published or presented at another international meeting at the time of submission. Abstracts presented at local or national meetings may be considered. 7. Authors may indicate their preferred presentation format (oral or poster). The Scientific Committee reserves the right to assign presentation type based on scientific content and programme requirements. 8. All presenting authors **must be registered** for the congress at the time of presentation. 9. Submission of an abstract constitutes consent for publication in the JGH supplement and the official congress programme. 1. APDW 2026 Manila proudly administers a comprehensive awards and grants programme funded by the Asian Pacific Digestive Week Federation (APDWF) and the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation (JGHF). These awards celebrate scientific excellence, support early-career researchers, and expand access to world-class education across the Asia-Pacific region. The Young Investigator Award recognises outstanding original research by early-career clinicians and scientists in gastroenterology, hepatology, and digestive endoscopy. Shortlisted applicants present their research to a panel of international judges at the congress, with winners announced at the closing session. Open to clinicians and scientists from Asia-Pacific nationalities who are within 5 years of completing training in gastroenterology or hepatology. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to present at the congress at no personal cost. Scientific merit of abstract (50%) | Quality of presentation (25%) | Ability to defend the work (25%) The Posters of Distinction Award celebrates the best scientific research presented in poster format at APDW 2026 Manila. Up to 24 posters are selected as moderated posters, where presenters deliver a 2-minute presentation followed by a 3-minute defence to a panel of international judges. The APDWF / JGHF Travel Grants support early-career clinicians and scientists from across the Asia-Pacific in attending APDW 2026 Manila. Up to 70 grants of USD 1,500 each are available, providing an opportunity to engage with world-class science, build networks, and participate in the Young Clinician Investigator Program (YCIP). USD 1,500 per recipient. Grants are fully funded by APDWF and JGHF and administered by the APDW 2026 LOC. Applicants who have submitted an abstract for APDW 2026, and applicants from countries with limited access to educational opportunities. **Eligibility & Requirements:** Open to Asia-Pacific nationalities within 5 years of completing GI/hepatology training. Applicants must submit an abstract and present personally at APDW 2026. A current CV and list of publications must be submitted with the application. Applicants must be able to converse in English. All recipients are required to attend the **APDWF-JGHF Young Clinician Investigator Program (YCIP)**, held one day before the Postgraduate Course. The APDWF Meritorious Award is the highest honour conferred by the Asian Pacific Digestive Week Federation, recognising individuals who have made outstanding lifetime contributions to digestive medicine in the Asia-Pacific region. Up to two awards are presented at the Opening Ceremony of APDW 2026 Manila. Prior to his PhD in Computer Science from Warwick 2001, he completed his postgraduate training from PIEAS (Pakistan) and Yale University (USA). His research focus is on the research and development of multimodal machine learning algorithms for the study of histological and multi-omic markers, aimed at early detection, risk stratification and personalised treatment of cancer.  Prof Rajpoot has been active in the Digital & Computational Pathology (DCP) community for over two decades now. He has published over 350 research papers in top journals and conferences in the area and has delivered over 100 keynote and invited talks.  He is a co-founder and CEO/CSO of Histofy, a spinout from his group at Warwick. Until recently (March 2024), Prof Rajpoot served as a co-Director of £15m PathLAKE, a national Centre of Excellence (CoE) on AI in pathology in the UK. He is also the Director of Singapore Health Service (SingHealth) AI Office, SNEC Chief Data and Digital Officer, and the Head of AI and Digital Innovation in Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI). In 2017, Dr Ting was US-ASEAN Fulbright Scholar visiting the Johns Hopkins University Fulbright Scholar to share his expertise in AI and big data in medicine. In addition to that, his research focus span across not only on the technical aspect on machine learning, deep learning, large language models, explainable AI, privacy preserving technologies, but also safe, responsible and ethical clinical AI applications. He is also involved in several international consensus reporting guidelines such as STARD-AI, QUADAS-AI and DECIDE-AI.  To date, Daniel has published >400 publications on peer reviewed, book chapters, educational articles and conference abstracts. Of those, 50 were published in high impact journals such as JAMA, NEJM, Lancet, Nature Medicine, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Lancet Digital Health, Progress in Retinal and Eye Research, Diabetes Care, Nature Digital Medicine, Ophthalmology and etc. His current H index: 77, i-10 index: 231 with total citations of >34,000 (Dec 2025). Dr Ting has received a total of 225M research grants, in which 40 M as a principal investigator, and 185M as co-investigators on AI and digital innovation related projects in health. Internationally, Dr Ting serves in several leadership positions at the different AI and eye societies, including the EQUATOR Network (STARD-AI, DECIDE-AI, QUADAS-AI, PROBAST-AI), American Academy of Ophthalmology AI and Retina Ophthalmology Technology Assessment committees, and he also chairs the AI and Digital Innovation Standing Committee for the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and Asia-Pacific Vitreo-Retinal Society.   He serves in numerous advisory and editorial boards in the top-tiered digital and medical journals, including Lancet Digital Health (IF = 30.8), ranked 1st in digital medical journal), an Editorial Board Member in Ophthalmology (IF=13, ranked 1st in clinical ophthalmology journal) and others including Associate Editor for Frontiers in Medicine, Frontiers in Digital Health and Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology; Section Editor for British Journal of Ophthalmology and Editorial Board Members for Ophthalmology Retina, Ophthalmology Science and Retina. He is also the Macula and Retinal Society members.  For the accomplishment, Dr Ting was recognized by many top-tiered international AI and ophthalmology societies in winning many prestigious scientific awards, including Jong Soy Leong Faculty Professorship in Duke-NUS university (2025), Rosario Brancato Award (2025), APAO Dennis Lam Award (2025), Senior clinician scientist award (2024), Tatler Asia Gen T Award (2021), Singapore National Clinician Scientist Award (2021), Asia-Pacific Academy Ophthalmology (APAO) Nakajima Award (2021), Asia-Pacific Vitreo-Retinal Society (APVRS) Ian Constable Award (2021), MICCAI OMIA Prestigious Achievement Award (2020), ARVO Bert Glaser Award for Innovative Research in Retina (2020), USA Macula Society Evangelos Gragoudas Award (2019), APAO Young Ophthalmologist’s Award (2018) and APTOS Young Innovator Award (2017).   In 2024, he won the Young Scientist Award by president’s science and technology awards (PTSA) 2024, a recognition to under 40 that has contributed researcher and development in Singapore and demonstrate great potential to be world class researcher. He is included in the 2025 World’s Top 10 Ophthalmic Innovator List, Top 100 Ophthalmology Power list (2022 to 2025), World’s Top 2% Scientists by the Stanford University world ranking (2022 – present) and in 2025 he was ranked in the 2% worldwide in ophthalmology. He is also consistently ranked top 3 in the world for the deep learning research since 2021 (AI research publications and impact done over the past 10 years) till now by the Expertscape. He is the Chief Medical Officer at Providence Genomics and Medical Director of Cancer Genomics and Precision Oncology at the Providence Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon. Before his current role, Dr. Bifulco was a faculty member at Yale University's Pathology department and completed fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Yale.
